My ritual to get into the zone for creative writing

I would like to share how my creative writing flows and what steps I take to get some juicy content out there.

It is very simple and works for me. As we are all different, it might not work for you, but you can try and see, maybe it will help when you feel stuck.

There are 3 main elements: space, time, and sounds.

In this article, I am not touching the idea generation. About idea generation, you can read in my other article here.

This article is more about how I get into the zone of my writing genius.

Space

I have set up my writing space so it inspires me. I have a lot of plants, and my wallpaper reflects jungle images. I light a candle or two and also some sort of scent from the East. My office is absolutely clean, with only a few things, that inspire me: my medals, inspirational quotes, and awards. I also live next to the lake so I am surrounded by nature. I grew up in a village so I need to be next to nature all the time.

Time

I have found the best time for writing. I have experimented and found out that I am most creative after 6 p.m. This is where I feel inspired, confident, and upbeat. If I have to write something in the morning it is a pain in the a**. In the evenings I find myself in my writing clothes, yes, I have those. I put myself in those comfy clothes like you see a lady writer in the movie living in the cabin or next to the seashore. I am that cheesy, but this makes me happy. So I have writing clothes, writing scents, writing candles, and my creative corner.

Sounds

Recently I found out that classical instrumental music is my next thing! And it inspires me to write. This is something new, that I just tried last week and it works.

So my advice would be:

to get some rituals around writing.

Make sure your writing space inspires you.

Find out your most creative time in the day. When do you feel the most energetic, inspired, and want to share?

And lastly, try out if classical music will work like a charm for you too.
