Commit to commitment
“Commit to commitment” — this is the sentence that I heard from one of the speakers last week during my public speaking event. And I jotted it down right away, not to forget it.
The speaker was telling about her life transformation and how she overcame many obstacles. Her strength and life transformation were impressive. Then she ended her speech with a “commit to commitment” expression. It caught my ear right away because my core value is commitment. But I never thought to commit to commitment.
But how many times do we make plans and set goals?
How many times do we commit to eating broccoli instead of cupcake?
How many times do we commit to hitting the gym instead of hitting the sofa?
How many times do we commit to calling our loved ones at least once per week, and instead it becomes once per half a year?
What if we would commit to commitment instead? What do you think?
Would that increase our chances of reaching out to broccoli instead, of going to the gym, or anything else we committed to in the first place? And how successful are you at your commitments? As for myself — I can improve.
A lot.
